Political Issues of Human Trafficking on the India Bangladesh Border

The Bangladesh-India border is facing current issues major issues of human trafficking. The issues create a problem for Inidia's Border Security Force (BSF). The issue relies on the two nations levels of border security control. Humans are being trafficked into India for uses of modern day slavery and sexual exploitation. In many cases these individuals involve minors whom have been abducted. The India and Bangladesh have a 4,300km border which is shared between the two nations. Measures are being looked into by the BSF to tighten border security and combat the human trafficking issue. Political issues between the two nations have arose for years and a meeting is scheduled for 9/22/10 to help maintain peace on the large border and realize the prevalence of the issue of human trafficking as a large political issue.

In another article, which discusses the two political leaders meeting about the borer protection issues, states the directer of the Bangladesh Rifles (Border Guards), does not believe there is any conflicts of border control. It may also be the director does not want to arise any concern of border control issues as it is a political issue that may be pushed off by the Bangladesh official for years to come. Human trafficking is an issue which is taken place an is recognized by the BSF as opposed to making a statement that no conflicts exist.

  1. Great article, I know very little about that northern area. It seems that with a problem like human traffiking they will have to do more then control the border but also work on the reasons behind the supply and demand of these young people...another topic to look up :)
